Electric vehicles - no heat

A letter from Adrian Hetherington in Local Transport Today of 22 January draws attention to a problem with electric vehicles that I hadn't previously appreciated.  Discarded heat from an internal combustion engine serves to warm the car interior in the winter.  But there is no such surplus from electric power .  The writer reports his experience of electric vehicles as miserable to drive in the winter. However, I recall that some batteries are prone to overheat, so perhaps a solution will emerge.
